Volunteer Opportunities

  • Home-based Help
Provide a warm, welcoming reception for children and accompanying adults from the time they arrive at the Center to their departure following confidential interviews conducted by a special multi-disciplinary team of health, legal, and other professionals. Other tasks include assisting with the Respite Care Program, running errands, making routine phone calls, and helping with mailings and correspondence.

  • Internships
We are always looking for talented people interested in furthering their education in the field of children’s issues. The Center accepts high school, college, and graduate students for internships or community service requirements throughout the year. Interns assist with general office duties, program management, and volunteer activities. If you know a student looking for a unique opportunity, refer them to Center!

  • Fundraising Campaign
Help our staff and Board plan and bring to life exciting and lucrative fundraising and awareness-building special events. Various opportunities throughout the year are available, from holiday gift drives to our Annual Fundraising Gala. Whether your skills lie in decorating, soliciting donations, or gift wrapping, there is an activity for you.

In addition to our major fundraising campaign, the Center also supports smaller fundraising drives. Volunteers use their special interests or skills to raise money for the Center in a variety of ways, ranging from donating proceeds from Avon, Tupperware, or jewelry sales to holding car washes to send a child to camp. These “smaller” contributions really pay off big for the kids!

  • Public Relations / Community Education
Throughout the year the Center is invited to attend health fairs, town festivals, “Nights Out,” and other community events as a means to distribute educational information and make the public aware of our services and mission. These are important opportunities to educate the public about child abuse issues. We are always in need of enthusiastic volunteers to staff our information tables and promote the Center.

  • United Way Giving
Not sure you have the time for fundraising, but still want to give? Contact your human resources department regarding United Way Giving. If your corporation participates in the United Way Campaign, the Center, a United Way agency, can be chosen as your designated charity. Just specify Deirdre’s House with the United Way number 026893.
